Job Description

A Carter Lumber Truck, Trailer, and Forklift Shop Entry Mechanic is responsible for performing daily repairs, emergency and preventative maintenance on all trucks, trailers, forklifts and other equipment.  This is accomplished by diagnosing equipment issues and performing minor repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner, ensuring our vehicles are DOT compliant. All major repairs are done by outside vendors. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company are necessary for this position.
Requirements to be considered for this position:

• 1+ years post qualification experience
• ASE preferred but not required.
• Ability to troubleshoot and accurately diagnose work
• Superior time management skills, attention to detail
• Exceptional verbal communication and organizational skills
• Dependable, responsible team player with a positive attitude
• Able to work independently in a team environment

Responsibilities of the Position:
1. Equipment Maintenance & Repair

• Responsible for maintaining and repairing all trucks, trailers, forklifts and other equipment. No major repairs will be required.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and ensure that they are repaired in a proper and cost-effective manner.
• Prioritizes and sets goals based on importance of project that needs attention.
• Inspects and documents the maintenance performed on equipment.

2. Safety

• Adheres to safety requirements when operating tools and equipment.
• Ensures safety functions on equipment are operating properly/preventative maintenance 
• Handles material in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Reports any defects or safety issues immediately.
• Completes required safety training.
