Job Description

Position Summary:

The Membership & Business Support Specialist at the Detroit Lakes Regional Chamber of Commerce plays a key role in ensuring the efficient operations of the Chamber’s hospitality, membership services and advertising sales of Chamber publications. This fast paced role requires the ideal candidate to be detail-oriented, organized, and committed to delivering excellent service to Chamber members, visitors and the community.

Essential Functions

Hospitality:

  • Greet and answer visitors and member questions in a timely and courteous manner
  • Manage Chamber email account
  • Assist with administrative duties such as processing Chamber Bucks, bulk mailings, newsletter preparation, and other duties to ensure efficient operations of the Chamber.

Membership Administration & Support:

  • Assist the Chamber President in managing all aspects of Chamber membership relations and retention.
  • Assist the Chamber President in managing and tracking prospective members, including maintaining an up-to-date prospect list and monitoring progress toward conversion.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date membership records, including processing new memberships, renewals, and changes.
  • Coordinate behind-the-scenes logistics for membership initiatives, such as onboarding programs, engagement campaigns, and appreciation efforts.

Advertising Sales for Chamber Publications:

  • Manage the sales of advertising in Chamber publications, directories, newsletters, and digital platforms.
  • Coordinate the distribution of Chamber publications.
  • Assist the Chamber President in identifying and cultivating new revenue opportunities through publications and business promotions.
  • Coordinate the sales transactions and records maintenance.
  • Coordinate marketing and communications to promote publication opportunities to members.

Other Administrative Duties:

  • Support event logistics as needed, including behind-the-scenes coordination of materials, communications, and post-event reporting.
  • Generate regular reports for the Chamber President on membership data, revenue from sponsorships/publications, and member engagement trends.
  • Assist in preparing board reports, membership lists, and other administrative documents as needed.
  • Support the Chamber President with additional administrative tasks related to membership services and business development.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • Experience in sales, administrative support, membership management, customer service, or business development preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage data and records accurately.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM/membership database systems.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting Chamber leadership.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Travel required to events and/or educational opportunities
