Overview



The Department of Psychology at Princeton University is seeking a full-time Research Specialist I (to act as a lab manager) in the Human Diversity Lab - under the supervision of Dr. Kristina Olson. The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of research on gender and sex diversity and early childhood social categorization.

This is a one-year term position with the possibility (and expectation) of renewal contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory performance. As Princeton University is not an E-verified institution, OPT STEM extension for a second year or more is not eligible. Start date is on or around June 16, 2025.

Responsibilities



The successful candidate will assist with all aspects of research, including but not limited to:

  • Coordinating participant recruitment
  • Data collection and data management
  • Recruiting, training, and supervising undergraduate research assistants
  • Completing administrative paperwork (e.g., IRB documents), ordering lab supplies, and maintaining a lab calendar of events
  • Coordinating meetings, emails, other administrative coordination
  • Writing papers
  • Conducting literature reviews
  • Helping to analyze study results




Qualifications



Essential

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least one year of developmental or social psychology research experience (or a closely aligned field)
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on new projects and responsibilities
  • Attention to detail, high level of self-motivation, and ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong writing skills
  • Ability to read, interpret, and synthesize past research studies
  • Ability to multitask and balance long-term goals with short-term needs
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft office, write professional emails)

Preferred

  • Basic statistics training (e.g., anovas, t-tests, using R)
  • Experience working with LGBTQ populations and/or other marginalized groups
  • Experience designing research studies and/or presenting research data
