Apex Clean Energy is seeking a Sr. Policy Analyst to support the expanding needs of our Government Affairs team. This role will monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory policy trends in the renewable energy industry and implement advocacy solutions in response. The position will focus primarily on policy and advocacy efforts at the federal level, while supporting the state government affairs team as needed. This is a great opportunity to help drive growth in the clean energy space

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and implement strategic actions that support Apex projects and broad company objectives, with a focus on policy relating to federal permitting, particularly as we grow in the Western US, and technology procurement needs. Issue specific responsibilities will expand as the new hire progresses in their role and needs arise.
  • Represent Apex Clean Energy at industry trade association meetings, U.S. Congress, and within other federal venues.  The position will also support Apex subject matter expert engagement in these venues as well.
  • Support and grow the Apex Clean Energy Political Action Committee through both internal fundraising efforts, creating budgets, and attending PAC related meetings and events.
  • Provide robust policy analysis of regulations, hearings, legislation, votes, and trade association meetings.
  • Prepare talking points, and submit relevant comments as needed for Congress, federal agencies, and trade association work.
  • Provide administrative support for the government affairs team as needed.

 

Qualifications

To succeed as a Senior Policy Analyst at Apex Clean Energy, you’ll need to excel within the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in federal government relations, public policy, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of the federal legislative and regulatory processes
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and communication (verbal + written) skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with federal policymakers and stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote, environment
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
